Air Conditioning Troubleshooting
Spring can often have you turning on your heater one day, then switching to air conditioning next. Depending on the quality and age of your unit, you might run into some trouble with your HVAC system from switching it on and off so much. Your heating and air conditioning system works as a unit. If one part is bad, it will cause strain on others that could lead to major problems. Let’s say your air conditioner starts making a weird noise, stops blowing cold air, or simply just won’t turn on. In this blog, we are going to focus on some troubleshooting for your air conditioning system.
To learn more on why your air conditioner is making a weird noise or smell, continue reading or call us today at 432-272-5636 if you believe it to be an emergency air conditioning repair.
My Air Conditioner is making Weird Noises
Having an air conditioner running on a hot day can make you comfortable. But when you start hearing a weird noise or smell, that can definitely make you the opposite! A squealing noise can often be an issue with the motor belt coming loose if it is an older system. Most newer units do not have a belt system, so this would not apply to those without a belt. For newer systems, often times the bearings in your fan motor can start to grind. This could be an indication that the condenser fan motor needs to be replaced. We recommend having a professional in the HVAC industry doing all major repairs for your safety.
Air Conditioner Blowing Hot Air?
Most air conditioner repairs we see are those blowing hot air. A common misconception is that if it’s blowing hot air, then all it needs is freon. This is not always the case. If your outside condenser is running low on freon the air will come out hot. There has to be a source as to why it’s low on refrigerant, as this stays in the system and does not need to be replaced. We offer electronic leak detection to find the source and repair it on the spot. There is also dye leak detection and soap bubble detection. If you don’t know which type of leak detection you will need, your HVAC expert can explain the differences in them. All of our technicians are able to sauter and weld your repair to ensure it doesn’t happen in that spot again.
Air Conditioner Not Turning On?
An air conditioner that won’t blow anything out sounds like a homeowners worst nightmare, right? But it doesn’t always mean the worst. Before you panic, make sure that there is power to the unit and your breaker isn’t flipped. You can check your thermostat, and if it is an older one it could be the fix. If you’ve tried to troubleshoot on your own and still can’t find the solution, we suggest calling in reinforcement. When you call in for your service call just mention what’s going on and our expert will thoroughly check your entire system. Even if you think you know the issue, we will double check to make sure that what we do is the correct solution. You can take our word, that our up to 82 point system check will find the problem.
